Draft Class 2012

whats good my Hip Hop Heads? its ya boy the Hip Hop Doc in this bitch wit another article for your readin pleasure. this weeks topic, the up and comers in the Hip Hop game. now about every three seconds there is some "MC" out there molesting a mic and making Pac and Biggie turn in their graves. but every blue moon theres some cat that gets in the booth and makes sweet, sweet love to the beat. takin the mic out to dinner, asking it how its day was, letting it finish first and callin it the next day to see how work is. these cats are the future of Hip Hop. now every once in a while one of the molesters will somehow be acquitted and find himself a record deal, but those muhfuckas gone end up in the Hip Hop pen one day or another. this aint about them, this about the real muhfuckas that are either keepin Hip Hop true to its roots and/or changin the game for the better. so w/o further adieu i bring you the Hip Hop Doc's Draft Class of 2012.

And the Number One pick goes to Kendrick Lamar. There arent enough words in the English dictionary for me describe how good this cat is, and hopefully will be. For those of yall who still have your ears handcuffed to the radio or live under a rock, go on iTunes and get Kendrick's latest project Section.80. it is w/o a doubt the best thing to drop this year and in my not so biased opinion, a classic. alotta these rappers are droppin albums that sound like they jus took all their fav tracks they recently recorded, put em together and called it an album. Section.80 plays out like a fuckin book man. not a single track seems outta place. the production is on point and the content is deep and meaningful and the lyrics.... oh the lyrics are simply stunning. im sure alot of people who saw his BET cypher this year slept on him and wrote his flow off as boring but trust me, the kid is the truth. Check Out: O(verly) D(edicated), Section.80, Say Wassup (off of fellow Top Dawg Jay Rock's Follow Me Home), The City (off of Game's RED Album).

My number deuce pick goes to Jet Life's Fiend. If I had to describe this Spitta signee it'd be the Barry White of Hip Hop. Not because he makes music for when some chicks thong is carelessly thrown on your bedroom/kitchen/living room floor, but cuz homie has a deep, sultry voice. I wasnt aware of him til I saw him perform at a Jet Life Tour concert, but i was immediately a fan. Like his boss he isnt the most lyrical or the deepest rapper, but hes got his own, unique style and if I were you Id go dl some of his projects and give him a listen. Check Out: Smoking Champagne, Life Behind Limo Glass, Blood Sweat and Gears (off of Curren$y's Covert Coup) and Notorious (from Smoke DZA's Rolling Stoned)

Numero tre goes to the Baltimore rep Los. No diss to my man Lloyd Banks but Los aka Shooter is easily the punchline king. He's like a more talented Little Wayne. Terrific metaphors and similes pour outta this kids mouth like breath. The kinda shit that makes you pause, think 'wtf did he jus say?' and then scramble to hit the rewind button. The kinda shit that makes you wonder how no one else ever thought of it before. The biggest sell out in all Hip Hop history, you may know him as Diddy, had this boy signed for a second but of course he made yet another terrible decision  and dropped him. Makes no sense cuz the homie has some deadly lyricism and that mainstream appeal. Check out: Worth the Wait, The Louis Vuitton Gift Pack, Vintage Rolls Royce Interior and look out for his upcoming project The Crown Aint Safe.

Numba 4 goes to the other four headed monster, Crooked I's younger brothers Horseshoe G.A.N.G. One listen to these C.O.B. MC's and youll instantly hear the relation to the Best Rapper Alive. Julius Luciano, Kenny Siegel, Demetrius Capone and Dice Denireo are not to be slept on unless you wanna be Freddy Kruger'd. These cats know how to freestyle something mean (they deserve their own BET Cypher) AND they know how to make a dope record. If they were to be featured on a Slaughterhouse track i believe every mic in a 20 mile radius would cease working. Each has a unique flow and can churn out masterful metaphors in their sleep. They are true lyricists. Check out: Gangsta MC, Firing Squad, 6' 7' Freestyle, Horseshoe (on Royce's Bar Exam 3) and Boy Looka Here (from Crooked's Hip Hop Weekly Series).

Last but not least, my fifth pick goes to two MC's who really, they on the verge of blowin up so they probly are too qualified to be on this list but I thought they deserved a shout out any way.....

YelaWolf  and Big K.R.I.T. Both of these fella's been makin some major moves lately. Both have debut albums in the near future, both had spots on BET Cyphers this past year, and both are mad talented. Im tellin ya K.R.I.T. could be givin Yeezy a run for his money as best combo rapper-producer. I recently saw him perform as part of the Smokers Club Tour and my man stole the show. I already fucked wit him but that show made me a big fan. Ill be the first to say Yela isnt for everyone but if you give him a chance he grows on ya. A unique voice and sick flow sets him apart from these other white rappers comin up and imo, aint a single one of em fuckin wit the Shady signee. But it would be real ignorant to jus right him off as a more white trash Em, he much more than that believe me.

so there ya go. thats my list of up n comin MC's that I feel will leave there mark on Hip Hop. There are def a couple other cats who deserve to be on this list as well but ya boy aint got the time to list every single dude whos been building some buzz in the game, and tbh, some of em (like Wac Miller, ASAP Rocky, Tyler the Creator, Meek Mill) I jus dont fuck wit for one reason or another, ya feel me. but before I depart Ill give yall an Honorable Mentions list....

Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul (the lesser known cats from Black Hippy), Chevy Woods, Freddie Gibbs, Smoke DZA, Frank Ocean (more RnB but dope nonetheless)

aight Im out fam. keep it real.
